2012 Hunter e36
The Hunter e36 sailboat is popular for cruising enthusiasts, offering comfort and performance. With its sleek, modern design, the Hunter 36 features a spacious interior with two private cabins, a well-equipped galley, and a comfortable U-shaped dinette that converts to a berth. The boat has a full-roach, Dacron traditional mainsail and a roller-furling jib, making it easy to handle and perfect for sailing in light winds. The hull design includes a wider beam and a longer dynamic waterline, providing better stability and speed. The e36 Hybrid has an electric motor and a diesel generator, giving flexibility and redundancy. The electric motor is quieter, cleaner, and more efficient, while the diesel generator offers extended range and reliability. Electric motors have lower operating and maintenance costs than diesel engines, saving money in the long run.
She is highly equipped with the Hunter Mariner Package, which includes a traveler on arch, refrigeration, a 36" folding leather wheel, an electric anchor windlass, an LPG stove with an oven, a teak fold-down transom, a dodger, a bimini, a Magnum inverter/charger, a brand new Raymarine, Axiom Plus 9, Quantum radar, all new 8D AGM Batteries, and an electric motor controller.

The Hunter e36 lets you choose between a relaxing cruiser and an exhilarating performance sailor. If a relaxing, stable family sailing yacht is your wish, choose the standard e36 layout. If banging around the buoys at breakneck speed is your game, pick the e36 Performance Package. Either way, you'll get the e36's extra wide beam that spans nearly the entire length of the boat, maximizing both the sleek topside and elegant interior accommodations. The Hunter 36 is a stunning cruiser. The updated window line gives this yacht a sleek feel, but the improvements don't end there. The hull design has been improved, featuring a wider beam further aft and a more profound bow hollow—this hull design results in a longer dynamic waterline, which means more speed.
The deck features a sleek, modern profile with large side windows allowing for increased interior light. The deck hatches are flush-mount, offering an enhanced look that complements the new profile. Lengthening the cockpit has allowed the Hunter 36 to have a cockpit that is a foot and a half longer than its predecessor. The cockpit of the Hunter 36 also features a fold-down swim platform that extends the already lengthy cockpit another three feet when folded down while the boat is docked or at anchor. Even with the fold-down swim platform, the Hunter 36 has a telescoping stainless steel swim ladder that can be easily accessed while the swim platform is up or down. This safety feature functions well, providing stable steps for re-boarding the boat and hiding away, making for a prettier stern.
Extending the cockpit an additional eighteen inches allows for a larger, more airy master aft cabin that features more headroom, eliminating any feeling of claustrophobia. Overall, the interior has been enhanced with a richer look and feel. Enhancements start at the sole of the interior, which features a hardwood flooring look that accentuates the true beauty of the Hunter 36's interior. Corian countertops are featured at the galley with complementing stainless steel fiddles that keep items from falling off the countertops in a seaway and serve as excellent hand holds for personal stability when moving about below. The interior wood used for the bulkheads and cabinet doors has been rotated 90 degrees so that the wood grain runs horizontally instead of vertically. Not only does this add a crisp modern touch to the interior, it also gives the eye the impression of a larger interior space. The salon is offered in a contemporary arrangement that allows guests to face one another while seating five comfortably. The table doubles as an additional bunk area for two people when lowered into the bunk position.
The Hunter 36 is also available in a performance-enhanced version that features a deep draft lead keel, upgraded winches, spinnaker gear including a retractable bow sprit, a 42" wheel, folding propeller, flat" top fat mainsail" for increased mainsail power, and the deletion of the swim platform to save weight and open the cockpit for a performance-enhanced feel.
The 2012 Hunter E36 Hybrid sailboat offers several advantages, making it an excellent choice for sailors who value both performance and eco-friendliness:
Dual Power Options: The E36 Hybrid has an electric motor and a diesel generator, providing flexibility and redundancy. The electric motor is quieter, cleaner, and more efficient, while the diesel generator offers extended range and reliability.
Environmental Benefits: The electric motor reduces carbon emissions and eliminates exhaust fumes, making it a more environmentally friendly option than traditional diesel-only sailboats.
Lower Operating Costs: Electric motors have lower operating and maintenance costs than diesel engines, saving money in the long run.
Enhanced Comfort: The hybrid system operates silently under electric power, which is perfect for enjoying peaceful moments on the water without the noise of a diesel engine.
The e36 has a very open layout and accommodates two couples very comfortably and is unique as there isn’t a true master, either the forward V berth or the aft double cabin are equally suited. The forward cabin has a spacious V berth, storage under, and also tastefully done bureaus for additional storage as well. The Main salon is open and airy with a full-length (sleeping) settee on the port side and the starboard side features the optional, convertible dinette with opposing seating. The salon is very warm and features rich, cherry woodwork that is brightened by an abundance of natural light, and ventilation and is enhanced with functional accents like hardwood handrails, Corian countertops, and quality stainless hardware. The port side nav station is on the aft end of the settle and is aft facing. The nav station has room for a second plotter display if desired and houses the electrical 110/12v, distribution panel, VHF radio, stereo, and inverter control panel. The head is directly aft of the navigation station and is very large for a boat of this size and features a SS sink, medicine cabinet, and even a separate stall shower. The spacious L-shaped Galley is across to starboard of the head. Corian countertops, double SS sink, plentiful storage, abundant counter space, propane stove, and oven all ensure that any culinary indulgence is well taken care of whether at dockside or underway. Moving further aft of the galley is a large private aft cabin that features a large, double berth, overhead hatch, and hanging locker.

The Hunter e36 was built as a four-piece mold which gives them incredible strength as each piece reinforces the next; hull mold, grid system, furniture, and deck/cabin top. These boats were also built using a combination of balsa coring above the water line to save on weight while keeping the boat incredibly strong to a solid laminate below the water line giving more strength and impact resistance. Knitted fabrics and a modified polyester/epoxy resin mix as well as an vinylester skin coat were used in the layup to help prevent blistering. Also to give more strength and impact resistance to the undersides of the hull, Hunter utilized a Kevlar reinforcement layer running from the bow stem to the keel. The hull-to-deck joint utilizes a combination of mechanical fastening by through bolting as well as a chemical bond using high strength 5200.

Like the rest of Hunter’s cruising line, the e36 carries a backstay-free B&R fractional rig and a stainless steel arch over the cockpit which serves as a base for both a Bimini and the main sheet traveler. These are mainsail-driven boats where 2/3rds of the sail power comes from the mainsail. This boat has the standard 110 percent furling headsail. The innovative cockpit traveler arch simplifies handling of the mainsail, providing more leverage and placing the traveler controls within easy reach of the helm. Moving the traveler to the arch frees the companionway of main-sheet clutter, allowing easy passage and a clear view forward. The arch also functions as a solid mounting point for the Bimini top, stern rail seat, and stereo speakers. The B&R rig and fractional sail plan guarantee easy tacking and reefing, a must for shorthanded crews who prefer to enjoy windy conditions.
