1979 Ocean Yachts 40 Super Sport

location icon Oxnard, California
Year 1979
Length 40 ft
Price
$89,900

The Ocean 40 Sportfisher is considered a Classic Jersey style quality build with a high bow section and an appealing sheer line that sweeps downward to a functional fishing cockpit.  The sleek low profile is a trademark of the Jersey built boats.

Viaggio Azzurra is owned by a retired boatyard manager.  The leak prone forward windows were removed and glassed in.  The topsides have been painted with epoxy paint.  The teak decks have been removed in the cockpit and now have a clean non skid finish.  All exterior teak has been painted white with epoxy paint giving the boat a clean modern appearance.  The teak bow pulpit has been replaced with a fiberglass bow pulpit.  Underwater exhausts were added for quieter running.  The bottom was painted in 2024 and there is a new water maker and water heater.

The Detroit 6-71 diesels have been reported to be rebuilt in 2003/2010. Seller reports approximate hours on mains 1600/800.  There is a Northern Lights Generator with 1750 hours.  New Acme props in 2020.

The interior is unique in that there are two private staterooms with a shared head and shower stall, and an additional bunk bed to starboard to sleep a total of 5 persons.  The salon is equipped with a galley up with newer appliances and a custom wet bar.

INTERIOR ACCOMODATIONS

The interior of the 40 Ocean is teak trimmed.  The tinted windows slide open for fresh air. This model had windows forward but like most forward windows on older sportfishers they leaked.  So the owner has removed them and glass over the front of the salon where the windows were.  The job was done professionally and looks original.   The salon is open with a L shaped sofa to port with an adjustable teak table.  Forward of the sofa is a custom wet bar with storage and a sink.  A long galley is to starboard with a sink, ample storage drawers and counter space, a built in microwave, and 2 fridges, one with an Icemaker and the other with a freezer.

The interior sleeps 5 in two private staterooms and one raised bunk bed.  Forward is a vee berth stateroom with a closet and a sink and mirror.  To starboard is a double bed with a TV, storage drawers, and a closet.  Both staterooms share a private head compartment with a vacu flush toilet and sink.  There is a separate shower stall in the head compartment.
